Product Customization & Technical Specification Checklists

A pre-flight technical checklist for plant managers, mechanical engineers, and procurement directors specifying custom machinery, non-standard plastic moulds, and bespoke hydraulic plant fixtures.

1. Defining Operational Scope & Target Capacity

Ordering custom machinery or non-standard tooling requires defining real-world duty cycle targets rather than arbitrary ratings. Before requesting design work, clarify:

  • Daily Production Quota: Target output (e.g. 3,000 sq ft pavers per 8-hour shift, or 500 batches of mortar).
  • Operating Environment: Ambient temperature range (e.g. 45°C summer factory shed), presence of abrasive mineral dust, or outdoor humidity.
  • Raw Material Input: Aggregate sieve size (6 mm vs 20 mm), cement type (OPC 53 vs PPC), and bulk density of materials.

2. Electrical & Power Supply Checklist

Mismatches between factory power and motor ratings cause commissioning delays and motor burnout:

  • Voltage & Frequency: Confirm 415V ± 10% 3-Phase 50 Hz AC, or verify if single-phase 230V is required.
  • Connected Load Availability: Ensure your factory transformer or diesel generator has sufficient KVA headroom to handle motor starting surge currents (typically 5× to 6× full-load amps for DOL starters).
  • Control Panel Features: Specify starter panel requirements: Push-button On/Off, Emergency Stop latch, Phase Failure relay, or Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) for speed adjustment.

3. Footprint, Clearances & Foundation Specs

Heavy machinery such as 500 kg pan concrete mixers and 10 ft vibrator tables impose significant static and dynamic loads:

  • Foundation Depth: Vibrator tables require an anchored 100 mm to 150 mm thick level concrete base pad.
  • Discharge Chute Height: Measure wheelbarrow, bucket, or trolley lip height so mixer support leg heights can be welded accordingly.
  • Maintenance Clearances: Provide at least 1.0 meter clearance on motor and gearbox inspection sides for lubrication access.

4. Custom Mould & Tooling Specification Checklist

When ordering bespoke plastic moulds for non-standard paver patterns, kerbs, or automotive brackets:

  • Dimensional Depth Callout: Explicitly state block depth (40 mm, 60 mm, 80 mm, 100 mm) and chamfer width.
  • Shrinkage Compensation: Confirm whether dimensions on the drawing represent the mould cavity or the cured concrete block (polymer and concrete shrinkage must be compensated).
  • Embossed Text: Provide vector outlines (.DXF or .AI) for company logo inserts or anti-slip patterns.

5. Master Customization Verification Matrix

Equipment Category Key Parameters to Verify Consequence if Omitted
Vibrator Tables Daily sq ft target, phase (1-Ph vs 3-Ph), mould depth Undersized motor or dead vibration zones
Color Mixers Batch kg weight, pigment types, discharge tray height Discharge chute height mismatch with plant trays
Concrete Pan Mixers Coarse aggregate max size (mm), skip loader required? Gearbox stall or excessive shovel labor
Custom Moulds 2D CAD with draft angles, virgin PP requirement, quantity Blocks bind in cavity during demoulding
CNC Turned Shafts Material grade (EN8 vs Mild Steel), bearing bore tolerances Loose bearing press-fit and premature play

6. Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. By specifying your conveyor belt height, width, and transfer speed in this checklist, our engineers weld customized discharge funnels and mounting brackets to integrate seamlessly with existing equipment.
