Precision Toolpaths & Rigid Workholding

Reliable machining begins with rigid workholding and precise CAM toolpath programming. Whether milling heat-treated P20 mould blocks or turning heavy mixer driveshafts from EN8 round stock, our machinists prevent tool chatter, deflection, and thermal drift through balanced feeds and speeds.

All critical geometric features—including keyways, O-ring seal grooves, bearing journals, and internal threads—are measured using calibrated instruments against your 2D engineering drawings before dispatch.

Machining Material Comparison

Alloy / Steel Grade Hardness (As-Supplied) Tensile Strength Common Component Uses Machinability Rating
Mild Steel (IS 2062) 120–160 HB 410 MPa Base frames, brackets, welded fixtures Good (High feed rates)
EN8 (Carbon Steel) 180–220 HB 550–650 MPa Drive shafts, axles, geared pins, bolts Very Good (Predictable chip)
EN31 (Bearing Steel) 210 HB (Annealed) 750 MPa High-wear bushes, guide pins, rollers Moderate (Demands rigid tooling)
P20 (Tool Steel) 28–32 HRC (Pre-hard) 900–1050 MPa Mould cavities, diestock, compression plates Specialized carbide tooling
Aluminium 6061-T6 90–95 HB 310 MPa Lightweight fixtures, prototyping housings Excellent (High surface speed)
Frequently Asked Questions

CNC Machining FAQ

We accept 3D solid models in STEP (.step / .stp), IGES (.iges), or Parasolid (.x_t) format, accompanied by a 2D PDF drawing indicating critical dimensional tolerances, tapped hole specs, and surface roughness requirements.

Yes. We frequently machine single custom replacement shafts, bespoke mould core inserts, and prototype diestock blocks. There is no rigid minimum order quantity for custom machined parts.

Yes. Every batch can be accompanied by an inspection checklist documenting actual measured values against your drawing callouts for nominated critical features and bearing journals.

Standard turned or milled parts typically ship within 3 to 7 working days. Jobs requiring external heat treatment, case hardening, or surface grinding take approximately 7 to 12 working days.
